Libshield
is used to manage the time your patrons are allowed to be on your
public use computers.
It includes an authentication module which will either use a local
database or your ILS (sip2) database to decide if a patron is
allowed to use the computer.
It
has a waiting list module which allows patrons to enter their ID and
displays the list order and how long they have been waiting, and when a
computer becomes available it displays (in flashing red) the computer
which is available. It assigns a patron to the computer and only that
patron's ID will be accepted for login ( so if someone happens to walk
by they will not be able to login first).
Also
included in the basic package is a printer manager. It can manage
multiple printers and give you complete control over the printing
process for all your patrons. Each patron will have there own
account and it will be tied to their ID.
In
case of visitors, there is a random ID generator to allow a one time
use of a computer.
You can split out zones, so you can
monitor both youth and adult computer areas.
Libshield is very easy to install!.
It will work
with wireless and well as wired networks, or combinations of both.
